Deanna Samuel is a Ditidaht and Nuu-chah-nulth artist from the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia currently based in Port Alberni. Her work reflects the rich visual traditions of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples, whose culture is deeply connected to the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest. Drawing inspiration from animals, nature, and stories that carry cultural meaning within her community, Samuel’s designs honour the forms and symbolism found in Northwest Coast art. Through collaborations with Indigenous art publishers and design companies, her artwork is shared on a range of thoughtfully produced items.
